Larry R. Underwood, 67, of Springfield, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born July 20, 1940 in Freeman Spur, Franklin County, IL, the son of Carl and Thelma Hicks Underwood. He married Joanne Fortner on March 12, 1991. His parents; one daughter, Christol Underwood; two sisters, Shirley Farmer and Dorothy Underwood; two brothers, Carl Wayne and Ferrald Dean Underwood; one niece; and two nephews preceded him in death.
Mr. Underwood was a service technician for Hobart Corporation. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed watching the Food Network’s cooking shows.
Survivors: wife, Joanne Underwood of Springfield; one stepdaughter, Claudine (husband, Sean) Thompson of Springfield; one son, Keith (companion, Betty Gluck) Underwood of Thayer; one grandson, Keith Underwood II, whom he raised, and five grandchildren; one sister, Marsha (companion, Coleman Taylor) Gamble of Deerborn Heights, MI; three brothers, Richard (wife, Janice) Underwood of Herrin, Don (wife, Genny) Underwood of Carterville, and Robert (wife, Pam) Underwood of Energy; one brother-in-law, Proctor Farmer of Conway, SC; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
