MARY'S OBITUARY
Mary Elizabeth Wright Frost, quietly passed away the evening of Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in Crozet, VA, after suffering a stroke a few weeks prior.

Mary was raised in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The youngest of six children, Mary was born in the very house she grew up in. Their family enjoyed many summers on nearby Canandaigua Lake.

Later, her parents purchased land and built a cottage on Chandos Lake, in Ontario, Canada. It was there that Mary, in her red canoe, met the love of her life, David Frost, and had a storybook romance with him each summer.

Mary graduated from the University of Iowa, married Dave, and they settled down on Long Island in Levittown, N.Y., where he taught 11th grade History, and she worked as a homemaker and mother of three. Dave and Mary remained happily married for the next 61 years!

She played piano and was very artistic. “The Paint Pots” were the Levittown women who gathered weekly, with or without their artwork, but always sharing laughter, comraderie, and refreshments. Mary was famous for her prize-winning fruit pies and homemade breads. The kids even teased Holly, calling her mom “Betty Crocker”.

Mary and Dave played bridge regularly with 6 other couples, and the women took turns hostessing large potluck parties, everyone dressed in their finest!

They took golfing vacations with brothers and their wives, and every year, they spent the entire summer in Canada with the kids, where rustic life, water sports and books replaced t.v. and phones.

A devout Christian woman, she was a member of the Pittsford Presbyterian Church, the First Presbyterian Church, of Levittown, in the early years, and Waynesboro, VA., after they’d retired. In addition to being a choir member for about 80 years, she also served as Elder & Deacon, often volunteering to help with anything and everything. Whether bookkeeping, baking and serving, sewing costumes for a skit, or even painting and wallpapering the bathrooms, Mary was happy to lend a hand.

That “can-do” attitude, and her warm, glowing personality are what made everyone love her so. And I mean everyone! Mary Frost was one of those rare people you meet who smiles at the drop of a hat, is quick to laugh, and sees the good in everyone!

Although we’ll all miss her terribly, she enjoyed a rich, rewarding life, filled with vast experiences and people who love her.

Mary Frost is survived by Jeffrey Frost and his wife, Kathy, of Portland, OR; Steven Frost and his wife Ann, of Scarborough, Maine; Holly Frost of Waynesboro, VA; and grandchildren- Pat Frost, Dave Sully and Kelsey Jane Frost.

She is predeceased by her husband, David, and daughter, Barbie.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, a ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Holly is requesting mourners honor her mother’s kind, gentle spirit and “Pay it Forward”. Pick any 3 people, do a good deed, then ask only that they do the same. We would appreciate knowing that her spirit lives on. If you so desire, please share these loving deeds with in guest registry.

In these dark days of division and uncertainty, especially, mom would have liked that.
