He was born on February 12, 1988, the third child of Donald and Paula Grandison (Granger, IN). Even as a young child, Adam always exhibited intense curiosity in the world around him. He enjoyed language, learning to speak Japanese in elementary school; exceled in math and science; and dabbled in music, playing the trumpet and tuba in the John Adams High School Marching Band. After graduating from John Adams High School in South Bend in 2006, Adam earned Bachelor of Science degrees in the Biological Sciences and Chemistry at IUSB in 2012; his minor was in Mathematics. During his time at IUSB, he was a member of the Physics Club, Biology and Chemistry Club, and the Earth and Space Science Club. In addition, he served as a Senior Tutor in General Chemistry and in Organic Chemistry as well as a Supplemental Instructor. Adam was also a recipient of a 2011 George Nazaroff Scholarship, 2012 Student Excellence Award in Chemistry, and 2012 Undergraduate Award in Inorganic Chemistry. He entered the graduate program in Chemistry at Princeton University in 2013. Adam balanced his academic pursuits with many eclectic past times such as gourmet cooking, gardening, skydiving, travel, politics, and reading.
Adam is survived by his loving parents, sister Whitney Paige Grandison (fiancé Jacob Alexander, Mishawaka) and step sister Kimberly Grandison (Huntsville, AL), brother Phillip Grandison (Granger), grandmother Patricia B. Clark (South Bend), uncles Dr. David Grandison (Carol, Huntsville, AL) and Edward Grandison (Detroit, MI), aunts Stacy W. Clark (South Bend), Dr. Romnee Clark (Carl Seaberg, Indianapolis), and Courtney Clark-Loera (Gabriel, Seattle WA), and cousins Hollis E. Hughes, Sr. (LaVera; South Bend), Wade Hughes (Pam; Palo Alto, CA) David Grandison, Jr. (Diana; ), Marcus Machado (Seattle, WA), Sommer Machado (Seattle, WA), Carole Adkins, Anita Cochran, and a host of relatives.
Visitation will be 5-8PM on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Funeral services will be Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11 AM at McGann Hay, with visitation 1 hour prior.
