Bertha Holt Slate, 91, of Bassett, died Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville.
She was born May 13, 1916 in Patrick County and was a daughter of the late Bige Thomas Holt and Mary Ella Frye Holt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sanders J. Slate.
She retired from Bassett-Walker after 40 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church of Bassett.
Surviving are three sons, Bill Slate, Doug Slate and Eugene Slate, all of Bassett; two daughters, Lucille Whitlow of Bassett and Linda Martin of Martinsville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at First Baptist Church of Bassett with the Rev. Lew Bennett officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Arrangements were by Bassett Funeral Service.
