She taught high school English in the Poco Mountain School District in Swiftwater, PA for 27 years.

Elly was married to the Reverend William F. Wunder for 30 years, until his death in 1975. They raised six children in East Stroudsburg, PA, Amy Stabenow, Sally Snayberger, Molly Bell, Frederick Wunder, Jenny Galunic, and Nora Faul.

In 1983 she married Dr. Edward T. Horn, Jr. and soon moved down to Florida where they enjoyed boating, cruising, swimming, cross-stich and staying active in their church and community. Dr. Horn passed away in 2007.

Elly also enjoyed knitting for St. Mary's Hospital making Preemie caps, and making lab robes for cancer patients. She was also an avid reader.
