Blake Andrew Davis, age 20 of Sterling Heights, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018. He was born July 26, 1998 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, son of Ronald Earl and Becky Ann (nee: Alvarez) Davis.
Far too young to be bidding him good-bye,…at least part of the healing, for those who survive Blake, will be the immense love that either stemmed from him or was shared with him. His time with us may have been short, but God took that time and used Blake to touch and impact the lives of many in a most caring and loving way. Surrounded by a huge support network that was always there to lift him up, Blake managed to lift up quite a few hearts himself through his loving and sensitive spirit. Known as a person who always put others' needs ahead of his own, Blake had a heart of compassion that sensed when somebody needed his help,…and he was always there, especially for the underdog.
He was there for his family! Ever the loving son, Blake made his parents proud and strove diligently to please them through the way he lived his life. He was also quite respectful of his grandparents and found great joy in visiting with them as often as he was able. There's just something about being with Grandma & Grandpa that makes you feel enveloped by a very special and unique love. And to round it out, some fun, family memories were made each time Blake and his siblings got together, too. With five of them to help share the experiences of life, there were a storehouse of moments, from hair-raising to loving, that helped to mold the whole picture of home and family for Blake,…especially the times spent with his brother playing X-Box.
He was there for his friends! At 20 years old, one can only imagine the balance of fun & mischief that permeated the friendships Blake shared, but one thing's for certain,…they were all cherished and treasured to him. He loved hangin' out with them, especially when it included sharing a meal together. Blake LOVED to eat. And like the old adage states, "when you're eating, you're happy,"…so Blake was forever on a mission to find "happiness." He wasn't real picky, he simply loved food. Go figure,…a recent teenager who loves food!?
He was there for his girlfriend! It was 5 years ago that Blake's life would change, and all because of the beautiful Miss Rillee Johnson who swept in and stole his heart. He may have been a young 15 years old, but beauty stands on its own and you just don't let it get away,…and Blake certainly did not. Through all of those raging testosterone-driven teenage years, Blake held true to the love of his life. He loved her dearly, always held her close, and enjoyed the five wonderful years they spent creating magical moments together.
And Blake was there for Style! For those who truly knew Blake, then it will come as no surprise what a "Shoe Hound" he was when it came to his tennis shoes. He didn't simply have tennis shoes (in the plural sense),…this Dude was proud to be the owner of a tennis shoe collection. The American answer to Imelda Marcos, Blake had a pair of tennis shoes to match every outfit in his closet. Is was important to him to be coordinated, so his shoes played a very important role in the ensemble. Yes,…it was all about Style!
Though his career was in its infancy, Blake was proud to have attained the title of Safety Supervisor for the roofing company where he worked. Known to possess a driven and assertive nature, they were qualities that made him shine and supported his hard work ethics. Blake was a very responsible young man and learned early about the principles of being honest, diligent, and dedicated to your job,…all of which he accomplished.
For as hard as he worked, Blake also knew how to achieve a wonderful balance in life by infusing it with a healthy dose of sports, the arts, and a few extracurricular hobbies to boot. From the sporting side came his love of boxing,…not merely watching it, but also donning the gloves and throwing a few of his own punches as well. Blake loved to box and spar with other appreciators of the sport. It was a great source of exercise and release. Another source of release he enjoyed was found each time he went shooting. Being noted for his marksman's prowess, Blake was quite adept with firearms and loved heading to the range, or perhaps an open field, for a little target practice. It was important to him that he remain sharp, both in the knowledge and use of a gun. Just as in his job,…safety was uppermost.
He also loved his "tunes." Music was an important part of Blake's life. It could both soothe his soul, as well as get the party started, it was just a matter of what mood he was in or wanted to be. Yet, for whatever the need, Blake had a song to fit the bill. And along with that massive and impressive shoe collection of his, Blake was also a collector of knives. Comprised of many different styles, sizes and shapes, he had an eye for the special pieces and managed to accrue quite a "sharp" collection of bladed wonders.
A loving son, brother, grandson and boyfriend, Blake leaves behind many, many loved ones and friends to cherish his memory. In his own unique way, he touched a multitude of hearts and lives in his short but loving journey. Blake also leaves a plethora of meaningful memories shared with those he treasured the most,…hopefully many that will be the lasting kind. Go Rest High, Dear One,…and know that you are loved.

Loving grandson of Florence Alvarez, Mary Davis, Thomas Wilson, and Thomas Freeman. Cherished boyfriend, of five years, to Rillee Johnson. Blake is survived by several other loving family members and friends.
Visitation for Blake will be held Saturday, September 1st from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm, with a 4:00 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren.
