KOREAN WAR VETERAN

Norman Charles Cook was born in Annapolis, Washington on July 12, 1934, to Charles Walton and Lydia (Larionoff) Cook.

Norman loved the water, on a boat, with his brother Roger or shucking oysters.

He joined the marines and went to Korea. He was a very proud marine! Once a marine, always a marine!

He married Sharon Lee Sears on 6 October 1959 in Port Orchard, Washington. They parted ways on 26 October 1977 in King County, Washington, due to a divorce.

Later, they re-married on 6 October 1976 in King County, Washington. This time they went their seperate ways before 1981.

Then he married Anita Louise Dominick on 18 July 1981 in Zeaphyr Cove, Nevada.

Norman retired from the steel industry in 1991.

He became a member of “The Des Moines Yacht Club”. Of course being on the water was Norman’s passion!

He met wonderful people in the yacht club. People Norman thought so highly of and loved till the day he died!

Norman loved to dance the swing! He was a great dancer! At the club he had a move which was known as “The Tomahawk Chop”. Pretty soon everyone at the club dances would be doing “The Tomahawk Chop”. Norman will be missed in so many ways!

Norman’s two boys Rodney Ray and Kenneth Craig meant the world to him! Norman was always bragging about his two boys!

He lost his beloved cocker spaniel Buffy at age 15. This crushed him. He loved Buffy so much! He was his baby! I’m sure they crossed over the rainbow bridge together!

On June 28th, 2020 Norman passed away peacefully at the age of 85.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lydia, father Charles and older brother Roger.

He is survived by his loving wife Anita of 38 years, sons Rodney Ray & Kenneth Craig, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters Marcia, Barbara, Judy, and brothers John and Nick, multiple nieces and nephews.

Norman was a character, always teasing and loving! A very gentle soul! He has so many feelings for his family and friends.
