Claude Thomas Foster, age 92, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge. He was a native of Fannin County, son of the late Walter Wilson Foster and Sarah Bethina Davenport Foster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Brown Foster, four sisters, Iva Lee Baker, Oma Todd, Ethel Mathews and Retha Poarch. Mr. Foster lived in Dalton, GA for 67 years where he worked as a mechanic in the carpet industry. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army and was a member of the Mineral Bluff Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Rene Bidez of Blue Ridge, GA; three sisters, Elizabeth Whiteside of Dalton, GA, Zona Waters of Phoenix, AZ, and Deverda Farr of Winder, GA; three brothers, Lonis Foster of Lexington, MD, Ira Foster of Central City, NM, and Johnson Foster of Epworth, GA; two grandchildren, Maribeth Bidez of Atlanta, GA, and Brooke Bidez of Athens, GA; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hipps Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport and Rev. Randy Hughes officiating. Music was by Jackie Lumpkin and Glenda Davenport. Interment followed in Hipps Chapel Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tommy, Jimmy, Phil, Ricky, and Wesley Davenport and Mike Foster. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements.
