Otis Harry Brown, orphaned and adopted from Kansas to relative, uncle, Loren Cowan of Boulder to Jenny Smith (teacher). Edwin Smith, Colorado University teacher (son of
Jenny Smith) worked at Colorado University and around 1941 was a friend
of Mary Brown Baer’s. Edwin died in 1970(?) and lived at one of the manors in
Boulder. Buma Brown Nicks said, Loren told her that Harry Otis was farmed out to a big family named Carmickel who lived in Valmont, Colorado, which was a bad situation so then Loren took Harry.
