Lauren Eugenia Robinson
"And I - in righteousness, I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness." Psalms 17:15. Lauren Eugenia Robinson was born in Baton Rouge on Sept. 9, 1980, the third of three children to Eugene Robinson Jr. and Laverne Lonzo-Robinson. She confessed Christ at an early age and soon started working as a young adult member at Greene Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Lauren grew up in Greater Greene Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she was christened by the late Rev. Verle N. Reeves. She and her mother served in multiple capacities. While her mother was busy in the lay organization and women's missionary society, Lauren got busy in the young people's department and the youth choir. Her passion for working with the youth inspired Lauren to continue her work in the church and she eventually worked her way up to youth choir director in 2000. In addition, Lauren served as Louisiana Conference YPD officer as communications secretary, and participated in Quadrennial, as well as general conference and lay biennial meetings. Lauren leaves to cherish her memory her father, Eugene Robinson Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.; mother, Laverne Lonzo-Robinson, of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Shawna Robinson, of Baton Rouge, Sharen Robinson Carter and husband Willie, of Sorrento, and Ursula Miles and husband Barry, of Prairieville; three nieces, Tai Riley, Dorien Carter, who is also her godchild, and Amber Ellis; godson, Danny Kennell, of Killeen, Texas; three nephews, Jordan and Jaydan Robinson and Clarence Ellis III; godparents, Otha and Vernita Nelson, of Baton Rouge; uncle, Eric D. Lonzo and wife Paulette, of Eagan, Minn.; uncles, Harry Lee Robinson and wife Beverly, Mack and wife Jane Robinson, and Wilbert and wife Loretta, all of Baton Rouge; aunts, Doretha R. Coleman, Gainesville, Fla., Glory D. Oliver, Chicago, and Natasha Robinson, Marietta, Ga.; special surrogate aunt and uncle, Raule and Jacqueline GoPaul Barker, of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Visitation at Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 6175 Scenic Highway, on Saturday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m., with Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega service at 10 a.m. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Repast will be at Metropolitan Lions Club, 6935 Van Gogh Ave. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Zachary.
