Josiah Lambert was the son of Daniel and Mary Randolph Lambert. Josiah married Joannah Woodward in 1766 at Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. They had the following children: Joseph, Anna, Hannah, Mary, Jonathan, Susannah, Richard, Priscilla, Job and Abigail.

During the American Revolution Josiah served as an ensign on the privateer "Retrieve" which was captured by the British ship "Milford" and Josiah was taken prisoner. Josiah also served as a guard in Philadelphia.

After the war Josiah and family moved to western Pennsylvania in the area of Greene and Washington County which later became Virginia as a result of a land dispute. Next they moved to Harrison County, Virginia near what is now Clarksburg, West Virginia. The Lambert family ultimately settled on the Ohio River at what later became Ironton,Ohio in 1800.

Gravesite Details

Josiah was a prisoner of war during the American Revolution and was held prisoner on the British ship the Milford. He is also my 4 great grandfather.
