Kathryn Ann Black, age 78, died July 5, 2020. She was was born in Temple, Texas on June 2, 1942 to Jerry Othel and Neatie Ola Mitchell.
While growing up she lived in Calvert, Buckholts, and San Antonio and is a graduate from Harlandale High School. After her marriage to William Raymond Black on June 11, 1960, she spent her entire life being a devoted housewife and mother. While her children were in school she worked as Somerset High School Secretary, and volunteered in many activities such as teaching, bus driving, working with the Somerset Baptist Church youth group, the Somerset Band Boosters, and Athletic Boosters. Kathryn played the piano by ear, sang solos as well as in the choir for many years at Somerset Baptist Church. One of her greatest joys was singing with the local Jubilee Choir.
Kathryn is survived by her husband: William Black; four Children: Janna Houshmand (Jalal), Lisa Chapa (Andrew), Leigh Ann Johnson and David Black (Crystal); 10 Grandchildren: Erin Conaway, Taylor Conaway, Christyn Chapa, Mitchell Chapa (Christina), Jory Chapa, Alexis Chapa, Alexandria Johnson, MaKayla Johnson, Malcolm Black, Jolene Black; and 4 Great Grandchildren: Zaeni Gossett, Maximus Gossett, Kaden Rome and Peyton Rome.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 9th from2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday at Hurley Funeral Home followed by interment at Bexar Cemetery.
