On Saturday, May 16th, 2020, Amelia Kay "Amy" Hogan Cox, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away at her home in Jacksonville, AL at the age of 60, after a courageous battle with brain and lung cancer.
“Amy” was born on October 2, 1959 in Colorado Springs, CO to A. Grace Hogan and Michael John Hogan. She was the 3rd born of 5, Katie, Eileen, Michelle and Mary Beth. She spent the majority of her childhood in Gunnison, CO, where she graduated from Gunnison High School in 1977. She later moved to Vernal, UT where she spent several years working and raising her children. In 2005, Amy moved to Jacksonville, AL where she met Michael Cox, who became her husband on July 7, 2006.
Amy was the fun-loving mother of five children, Jason Perusek, Auna (Perusek) Phillips, Tyler Fay, Mary Beth Fay, and Kyle Fay. Amy loved her children deeply and they will always remember how much fun she was and all the laughter they shared as a family.
Amy was best known for her funny sense of humor, infectious laugh, and strong work ethic. Also, for her red hair & firecracker spirit. She was a very hard worker and had a great love for the outdoors. She brought laughter and light to many, and always wanted to help others in any way she could.
Amy is survived in her death by her husband, Michael W. Cox; daughter, Auna Phillips and husband, Nathan, of Statesboro, GA; sons, Jason Perusek, of Vernal, UT, Tyler Fay, and Kyle Fay, both of Craig, CO; grandchildren, Emma Rose Phillips, Parker Brett Perusek, Echo Perusek and Augustus Fay; sisters, Katie Gurnett, Eilieen Bickett and Michelle Klippert; step-daughters, Trisha Cox and Kristin Cox; and three step-grandchildren, Alex, Madison and Conner.
Amy is preceded in her death by her mother, A. Grace Hogan Caldwell; father, Michael J. Hogan; sister, Mary Beth Williams; and infant daughter, Mary Beth Fay.
A memorial service will be held in Gunnison, CO on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 where Amelia considered home. The service will be held at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Parish Office and Hall, located at 400 W. Georgia Ave, Gunnison, CO 81230. The Internment will follow directly after at Gunnison Cemetery.
