Born to Hazel and Earl Brown in Klamath Falls Oregon, he was the oldest of the family of 4 boys and 7 sisters. Raised and educated in the small farming and ranching community of Bonanza Oregon. His depression era up bring in Southern Oregon was always of his life style. His manner, straight forward plain talk and strong belief in hard work with dedication to the family and friends.
On Norman's 21st birthday is one birthday he would never forget. It was the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. In the fall of 1942 Norman joined 2 brothers who already joined the Navy. Soon the 3 brothers would be joined by thier youngest brother. All 4 Brown Boys served in the Navy. During the various times while in the military service Norman was stationed in california and Washington. As well as seeing action on number of Islands in the Pacific. Norman was a Mechanic in the Naval Air Corp that would lead to a fascination with airplanes though out his life.
After the war he returned to Southern Oregon were there he met a young lady by name of Pasty Williams. The two would marry in late fall of 1950. In 1952 they would have thier first of 3 children. A daughter who would be joined later by sister and a brother. The young family would later move to Gales Creek and raise thier 3 children.
Norman worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Federal and State Forestry Service. He help build a number of roads though out the Tillamook Burn Area and the Willson Highway in the Tillamook Forest.
In 1970 until he retired Norman worked for the Haley's Food company in Hillsboro Oregon
Oregn's wildlife and diverse outdoor beauty was always a life long pleasure. He enjoyed all types of music and a avid reader he was never far from a book or his garden.
Norman is survived by daughters Sheryl Brown-Harriman, Susan Brown and son Bill Brown, three grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
