MATTOON - Steven Richard Phillips, age 68, of Mattoon, passed away at 4:58 a.m. on August 25, 2022, at Mattoon Healthcare.
Graveside services honoring his life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Dodge Grove Cemetery with Mike Erwin officiating. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Steven was born on November 30, 1953, in Mattoon, the son of Donald D. and Margaret Louise (Whitton) Phillips.
Survivors include his sons: Josh Phillips of Springfield, IL, and Jason (Samantha) Phillips in Calera, AL; daughters: Lori (Rich) Smyser in Mattoon, IL, and Beverly Abbott in Jewett, IL; 13 grandchildren; sisters: Deb (Tim) Phillips of Gillette, WY, and Barb Nash of Gillette, WY; brother, Ron (Helen) Phillips of Charlotte, FL; several nieces and nephews. Steven was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tom Nash.
Steven attended Mattoon High School and Lake Land College. He retired from Trailmobile in Charleston after 25 years of dedicated service. Steven was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and motorcycle rights activist. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing and hunting, and especially catching wind on his Harley.
Memorial donations in his honor may be given to ABATE.
