Christine “Chris” Louise (Stumbo) Miller was born on August 9, 1954 to Raymond and Elizabeth (Ross) Stumbo at the Boone County Hospital. Born and raised in Boone, Chris decided to grow some new roots in Boone by starting a family of her own.

Chris was united in marriage with Richard Miller on August 16, 1974 at the Open Bible Church in Boone. Richard and Chris had many experiences shared over the years. They built a life together in Boone- raised two daughters, built a home, and shared many laughs, tears, and jokes.

Chris worked at West Haven Community for many years, formerly known as Evangelical Church Home, up until 2010. She then began working at Boone County Hospital, where she worked for nearly 10 years, before her retirement in January of 2019.

Chris was a woman with a heart of gold. She would help everyone else before she would think of herself. She was also the person to go to if you wanted the truth- no sugar coating came from Chris. She cared for her husband and loved her daughters and grandchildren. She liked when the grandchildren would come over to eat, especially when baking was involved!

Chris also enjoyed watching Elvis shows or movies, making her trips to Walmart at least three times a day, collecting lighthouses and snowmen. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, which she loved to get all dressed up- big hat, purple shirt (her favorite color), and a necklace to finish the look.

Chris is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard Miller of Boone; daughters, Tracy (Pedro) Castaneda of Boone and Teresa (Dan Hofer) Struchen of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Leslie (Michael) Chothen, Trista Simpson, Scott Simpson, and Cindy (Miguel) Silvestre; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Jasmine Guzman, Eric Chothen, and Ariana, Andres, and Analiah Silvestre; siblings, Jane Boersma, Ida Williams, Marie (Kent) Pickering, Raymond (Joyce) Stumbo, and Frank (Valerie) Stumbo; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jo (Danny) Davisson; brother-in-laws, Rich Boersma and Dale Williams; and sister-in-law, Ninnette Stumbo.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Chris’ family at www.schroedermemorial.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to
