MAYO Johnny "Wayne" Mayo, age 49, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly January 3, 2010. His family and friends will have to go on in this world without him. He has gone to be with God.

To know Wayne was to be touched by love, wonder and a touch of mischief. He loved Alaska and all things Alaskan. His dogs were part of his family particularly his long time companion Blue (deceased) - he leaves us Pearl and Buffy to remember his heart as a dog lover. Wayne was a true believer in the philosophy of offering a hand up not a hand out.

He cherished time spent with family and friends laughing, living, and loving. He was without question a WWF fan. He enjoyed huntin' and fishin' and the outdoors especially when Wayne and his brother Ray could hunt and fish together. Wayne enjoyed trips to watch a river run as much as he could be fascinated by humming birds on the back porch.

He realized his life long dream when he moved to Alaska in 1992. Wayne chose to continue his generosity and loving character by giving life to complete strangers as an organ donor.

Born March 26, 1960 in Dallas, Texas to Mozelle and Ollen Mayo (deceased). Later in life and until the day he died he was proud to call Mike Osborne Dad and relished Mike accepting Wayne as his son. His brothers and sisters included Ray Mayo (deceased), Natalie Mayo Shaeffer and John Osborne. He was the loved God Father of Jackie Hannabass, Maranda Hopper, and Jeffrey Hopper, his sister Tess Hopper's children. He was the proud father of Amanda Kay Mayo Campbell, Jennifer Rae Mayo Powell, James Wayne Mayo and William David Mayo (deceased). They are his shared children with Teresa Kay Strowd Mayo. Amanda's family is her husband, Aaron Campbell and her son, Dakota Cox and Myranda Campbell. Jennifer is married to W.T Powell. James is currently unmarried. He had many nieces and nephews and Aunt Minnie and Uncle Dean Carroll who loved him dearly and will miss him deeply. Wayne grew up primarily in Big Spring, Texas and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1978.

He was the loving husband and constant companion of Yvonne Krouse Mayo. They met and fell in love in 1995 and married in 2002. Wayne and Yvonne left Wayne's beloved Alaska in 2005 to be closer to his extended family members in Columbus. His mother and father-in-law (Mom and Pop) Harry and Sarah Krouse; other family members in Columbus are: Aunt Marie and Uncle Carl Krouse, William Leonard, Harry Krouse Jr., and Austin Curtis Krouse,Brooke Logue, Brittany Logue, Joshua Logue, Regina Welch, and Elizabeth Welch.

He will be loved and missed. Friends may call at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. Pastor Mike O'Brant officiating. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered in Alaska.
