This 100-grave lot was created as a burial site for members of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. John Albert Cockerill, editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch & a long-time member of the Elks, donated the nine-foot, 1,350 pound bronze statue of an elk. Cockerill was among the first to be interred in the lot several years later.
