Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Truman M. Durr, 84, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Wallace Baptist Church in Pelican, Louisiana with Bro. Donny Durr officiating. Assisting the service will be Bro. Jeff Jinks. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Marthaville, Louisiana. A visitation with the family will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Mansfield Chapel on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Truman was born on September 6, 1935 in Rambin, Louisiana to J.Y. “Jake” Durr and Lillian Blue Durr. He entered into eternal rest on July 5, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Truman was the best all-around student of Ajax High School. He was involved with numerous organizations including Shriner’s Hospital, Lion’s Club, Freemasonry, President of The Battle of Pleasant Hill for over 25 years, Mayor of Pleasant Hill for 8 years, served on the Jury Commission in Sabine Parish for over 25 years, worked for BMA Insurance for more than 20 years, and later retired from Rose-Neath Funeral Home as a Funeral Director’s Assistant.

Preceding him in death are his parents, J.Y. Durr and Lillian Blue Durr; brother, Artis L. Durr; daughter-in-law, Donya Masters Durr; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Greene.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin Durr and wife Elvera of Philippines, Kerry Durr of Colorado, and Donny Durr and wife Stacey of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughters, Patti Durr McArthur of Keithville, Louisiana and Connie Durr Gates and husband Dwayne of Benton, Louisiana; sisters, Dorla Collins of Bossier City, Louisiana and Thelma Kreeger of Denver, Colorado; along with 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Honoring Truman as pallbearers will be Michael Greene, Eric Durr, Jared Durr, Connor Bullard, Jake Durr, Jeremy Durr, and Thomas Hardee.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Hardee, Sonny Hardee, Jerry Barnes, Jackie Bryant, Randy Collins, Wayne Dardeau, Jerry Lee Hilbert, and Marc Alexander Durr.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to a charity of your choice or to the Shriner’s Hospital in memory of Truman Durr.
