Pat Bishop, age 80, passed away peacefully July 4, 2020 due to heart failure in Tyler, TX.

She was born October 20, 1939 in Jacksonville, Texas to Robert & Mattie Burns.

She married the love of her life, Otis Leroy Bishop on April 21,1961 who preceded her in death in March of 2014.

Private graveside services will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Overton with Reverend Joel Cobbs officiating.

Pat loved to refer to herself as the family Matriarch, the Queen, the life of the party, the gossip and the list could go on. But to all of us she was a friend, a mom, a Nannie, a teacher, a partner in mischief, a co-worker, a widow, a christian, an encourager, sometimes snappy, sometimes sweet. Someone once told her how sweet she was and she told them, “it took me a long time to get this sweet”…and she was serious.

She loved words, both writing and talking! One morning she looked in her bedroom mirror and started a composing a poem in her head that went like this;

I looked in the mirror and what did I see…

A little old lady looking back at me

The wrinkled face and graying hair

What happened to the face that didn’t have a care.

How fast the time has flown

And soon my time on earth will be gone.

During the last 5 years of her life she decided that the Lord had left her here for a reason and that was to be an encourager to others. She couldn’t drive or cook (which she loved) so her phone and Facebook were her tools of choice. She would pour over articles, videos, sayings, trying to find things to put on Facebook or phone texts that would make others feel better. She was known to call and encourage friends or family members who were down or just to talk and this made her happy.

Pat is survived by her sons Cody Bishop & wife Gay Nell, Chad Bishop & wife Tara, Clay Bishop & wife Kristina, grandchildren, April Wilcox & husband Nick , Chris Bishop, Tyler Edwards, Eric Wynne, Dakotha Bishop, Emily Leavens, Jordan Bishop & wife Jessie, Jayanna Watson & husband Josh, Jaycee Bishop & fiancé Jordon Aguilar. Great-grandchildren, Canaan Wilcox & Branson Bishop, Abel & Allie Watson. A sister Janet Burch & husband Jay and nieces, Lori Whitmire and husband James, Kathy Ardi and husband Jackie, nephews, Charlie Burns and wife Aussie, Robert Tune and wife Debbie, Jarrett Burch.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Leroy Bishop, her parents Robert & Mattie Burns, her sister Linda Tune & husband Jerry, her sister Sandy Robison & her husband Mike.

She will be missed!

Honorary pallbearers are Chris Bishop, Jordan Bishop, Eric Wynne, Nick Wilcox, Jarrett Burch, Joseph Ardi and Robert Tune

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
