Norma Jean Myers
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Norma Jean Myers, formerly of Thomasville. Norma Jean was born November 22, 1931, she was 88 years young.
Norma Jean was a resident at Stonebridge Nursing Home in Duncannon, PA where she peacefully passed. She went to dance with the Lord on July 3, 2020 after battling many years of chronic health issues. Norma Jean lived life to the fullest and captured the love of everyone that came into her life. Norma Jean was a dedicated member to society and her family. She made friends everywhere she went especially with her staff of nurses and doctors and workers at Stonebridge who she loved and they loved her as well.
Norma Jean was a great woman in so many ways. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. From humble beginnings she became a member of Paradise Senior Citizens where she was very active in the association from working in the kitchen preparing food to sending out cards for all special occasions to members. Norma Jean also was an avid mall walker at the West Manchester Mall. She took her walking very seriously and rarely missed a day, until her health condition made it impossible. In Norma Jean's spare time she enjoyed playing cards, reading and doing crosswords. Her favorite thing was receiving greeting cards. She loved them and she kept every card she ever received. She had attended the Paradise Lutheran Church in Thomasville.
She always had a positive attitude and great sense of humor. In her darkest days her smile would light up a room. Norma Jeans life was a blessing and a treasure that we will hold so deep in our hearts. Love knows no boundaries and while Norma Jean is no longer physically with us, her spirit and love will be all around us.
Norma Jean is survived by her daughters, Lucinda (Cindy) Hockenberry of Newport and Judy Vanacore of Harbor Twp, NJ; step children, Shirle Miller, Regina Kopp and Barry Myers of Dover; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Debrorah Arcuri, granddaughter, Tammy Hockenberry ; brother, Robert Smith and step sons, Steve and Larry Myers.
A life so beautiful deserves a special celebration which will be held Tuesday, July 14 the Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York at 11 AM with a visitation from 10 AM until the service. Inurnment will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Please join us as we gather to remember our forever loved Norma Jean Myers.
