Jeanette S. Lawrence, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away July 3, 2020 at a Wichita hospital.
Jeanette Shirley Husted was born March 2, 1930 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Albert Robert Husted (1909-1986) and Martha Eldora (Emmons) Husted (1912-1980). She graduated from Winfield High School in 1948. Her first job was at First Federal Savings and Loan from 1948-1953.
In 1949, Jeanette married John Milton Lawrence (1922-2003). In 1950, they purchased a farm west of Winfield in Vernon Township. She maintained the farm records and worked with her husband to build their farming business. From 1971 to 1988, she worked as an accounts receivable bookkeeper for OTASCO. Every summer, on her vacation from OTASCO, however, a wheat truck was waiting for her to drive.
John and Jeanette had three children: Shirley Arnold of Kingston Springs, TN; Sharon Finley of Winfield; and John D. Lawrence of Winfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Kenneth Husted, a sister, Sandra (Husted) Christensen, and a grandson, David Lawrence.
Her three children, six grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren survive.
A viewing will be held at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 12 to 5 P.M. Graveside funeral services for immediate family will be held at Highland Cemetery.
