James “Jim” Robert Mize age 80, of LaFayette, Georgia went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday evening – July 5, 2020. He was born on July 18, 1939 in LaFayette, Georgia to the late Robert Luther Mize and Gladys Louise Shannon Templeton. He was a lifelong resident of LaFayette and a graduate of LaFayette High School – Class of 1957. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. He graduated from Southern Tech College where he earned his Civil Engineer Degree. He retired from The State of Georgia Department of Transportation after thirty-four years of employment. He was a member and served as a Deacon at Woodstation Baptist Church for the past forty-seven years. Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-two years: Carolyn Coulter Mize of LaFayette, GA, daughters: Tracy (Bryan) Edwards of Chickamauga, GA, Karen Mize of LaFayette, GA, grandchildren: Delaney Carson Edwards, Dax Coulter Edwards, half-brother: Bobby Mize of Bryan, Texas, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am – Wednesday – July 8, 2020 in the chapel with Pastors Steve Skates and Eddy Rushing officiating. The funeral and graveside services will be live-streamed on Woodstation Baptist Church Facebook page. The family requests those coming for visitation and funeral services, please wear facemasks and practice social distancing. Burial will follow in LaFayette Cemetery.
