Michelle Earcie Rogers was born and raised in Longview, Tx. She graduated from Longview High School in 1958. Soon after, Michelle met the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Joe T. Rogers, while attending a New Years Eve dance in Beaumont, Tx. They were married four months later in the same town they met and they eventually settled in Nacogdoches, Tx to raise their four daughters. Michelle passed away Saturday July 4th, 2020 in Nacogdoches, Tx due to complications from Covid-19. Michelle, also known as “Mikie,” was a stay-at-home mother and enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking delicious food, decorating her home for the holidays and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of a very close friends group nicknamed “The Steel Magnolias” for 46 years. They enjoyed their monthly dinners and traveling together. She always loved their trips to Cabo. Mikie and Joe loved to travel together and their trip to Alaska was always one of their favorites because it was a 50th wedding anniversary gift from their girls. Above all, she loved being with her daughters and grandchildren the most. She didn’t care what they were doing as long as they were laughing and enjoying time together. Mikie had the amazing gift of being able to touch everyone she met in such a special way no matter if she met you 20 years ago or five minutes ago. She loved everyone she met no matter who they were, where they’d been or what they looked like. She could bring a smile to anyone’s face and lift their spirit just by talking with them. She was always kind, compassionate and full of life. Her out-going and silly personality was loved by everyone. She had a fierce connection to God and leaned on Him through every step of life. She never missed the chance to tell you she was praying for you and you knew she had you covered. She was an angel on earth and a true depiction of God’s grace, love and mercy. Her sweet smile and laugh will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Mikie is survived by her daughter Dana McNamara; daughter Kim Sandel and husband, Bonner Sandel; Daughter Christy Kile and husband, Chris Kile; Daughter Amy Rogers; along with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Michelle is preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Rogers; parents Michael Brown and Helen Foreman; sister Rosie Tutt; and three grand-children Candice Anthony, Carson Morris, and Landry Morris. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Kile, Ness Tipps, Jake Sandel, Bonner Sandel, Tommy Morris, Brayden Mobley and Grayson Mobley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michelle “Mikie” Rogers’ honor to her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Love Inc. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 8th, 2020 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 9th, 2020 at 10:00am with Bro. John McGuire officiating. Both services will be held at Laird’s Funeral Home in Nacogdoches. Graveside burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery.
