Arthur H. Janzen, 75, died Thursday (April 4, 2002) at St. Francis Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Sept. 3, 1926, to Cornelius K. and Sarah (Hiebert) Janzen in Goessel. They preceded him in death. He married Louise A. Hiebert July 23, 1944, in Walton. She survives of the home.
He was a graduate of Walton High School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired fireman with the city of Newton, serving for 37 years. He also was the owner of Quality Electric Company. He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton where he served in many capacities and was a member of the Christian Homemakers Sunday school class. He was active in sports with coaching and participation. He also enjoyed quartet singing.
Other survivors include: three sons, Darryl E. Janzen of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, Larry L. Janzen of Newton and Terry D. Janzen of Wichita; a daughter, Cheryl D. Sauerwein of Newton; six brothers, Edwin Janzen, Walter Janzen and Curt Janzen, all of Newton, Abe Janzen of Hutchinson, Adolf Janzen of Enid, Okla., and Elmer Janzen of Wichita; a sister, Lydia Flaming of Newton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Monday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with Pastors Clarence Rempel and Rusty Bonham officiating.
Burial was be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Caring Fund of First Mennonite Church and the Newton Fire Department Radio
