Born on February 20, 1927 in Wheaton IL, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Phillips) Hinshaw.
On September 7, 1957 she married the late Kenneth G. Bennett and together raised two sons. Joan was a devoted mother and wife and also helped run the small fruit farm. She was a lifelong member of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, where she once served as treasurer for many years. In her spare time she loved to paint and sold many of pieces of her artwork. She enjoyed doing puzzles, weeding in her garden and reading.
Joan is survived by her two sons, Thomas A. Bennett of Lyndonville NY, John Bennett D. (Peggy S. Henchen) Bennett of Wayland NY, grandchildren, Thomas J., Trisha A., Kaitlyn J., Karly J. and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Lynhaven Cemetery, Housel Ave. Lyndonville NY with the Pastor Martha Mitchell officiating.
