Sandra Sue Steen Cates, 61, Austin, Texas, died Feb. 23, 2003,in Austin. She was born March 26, 1941, in Iberia, a daughter of Holmes and Elva Boyd Steen. Her mother survives in Eldon. She was married June 24, 1983, in Chesterfield, to Allan Cates, who survives at the home.

She was a dental assistant and a member of Independent Christian Churches.

Other survivors include: one son, Brent Alan Gardner, Columbia; one daughter, Beth Bishop, Austin, Texas; one stepson, Tim Cates, Dickinson, Texas; one step-daughter, Alys Macias, Round Rock, Texas; one brother, Don Steen, Eldon; four sisters, Sharron Holder and Janie Davis, both of Eldon, Shirley Woolsey, Santiago, Chile, and Judy Pryor, Stilwell, Kan.; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ninth ST. Christian
Church. Craig Woolsey and the Rev. Tom Farrington will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Iberia. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Memorials are suggested to Williams
