Julie grew up in O'Neill, where she attended elementary school and graduated in 1975 from O'Neill High School. She was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill. Julie worked as a grocery clerk at Papa Red's, Lou's Thrifty Way in Norfolk and as a custodian at Country Inn and Sunset Plaza in Norfolk. Due to her illness, she had not been able to work since 2012.
Julie enjoyed dancing, drawing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her cats, and her favorite holiday was Halloween, when she enjoyed dressing up and making people laugh.
She is survived by her daughters, Amber (Alfredo) Rodriguez and Paige Roberts; her grandchildren, Aliyah and Jayden Rodriguez; her brothers, Mike (Jill) McElhose of Pierce, Doug McElhose of Norfolk, David (Lisa) McElhose of Columbus; and, several nieces, nephews, and cousins who miss her.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services for Julie D. Roberts, 58, of Norfolk were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015, on Julie's favorite holiday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 55203 854th Road near Pierce, Nebraska, with the Rev. John Nelson officiating. Julie's body was cremated, and her cremains are now buried in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk, Nebraska.
