Robert Winchester Flint was the youngest of seven children.
He was educated in Oakland and Millbrae, California. As a very young boy he learned about the management of the home Rancho from his father.
His business and employment endeavors included ranching, owning and operating a butcher shop, being a deputy under San Benito County's Sheriff Croxon, occasionally acting as constable and was employed by the Alpine Creamery. Until shortly before his death he ran a cigar shop and pool parlor.
His fraternal ties were with the Elks, Odd Fellow, Masonic Eagles and Foresters' organizations. He was a Republican and occasionally registered to vote in the Progressive party
Robert and Iris A. Kemp married on 31 August 1898 in San Juan Bautista, California. They had one daughter, Alma Louise Flint.
