I don't know much about Wes Jamison. He was 63 years old and his son's name is Lucas. He had a daughter also, but I don't know anything about her. He was known as Broadway Wes on the streets of Denver.

A memorial service to honor a homeless navy veteran will be held by local veterans organizations at 9 a.m. today.

The memorial service in honor of Wesley Jamison will be held at the caboose at the north end of F Street by members of American Legion Ray Lines Post No. 64, The Angel of Mount Shavano VFW Post 3820 and Marine Corps League Lt. Harry T. Ostrum Jr. Detachment No. 1420.

The body of Jamison, 63, was found behind the caboose June 29.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony American Legion post commander Joe Beaky said.

Beaky said the memorial is a way to honor a veteran even though he was homeless.

A memorial gathering for Wes Jamison will be held at the caboose on Tuesday, July 7th at 9:00 a.m. Please pass the word so that we may honor this man who many of us were just getting to know in the short time he'd been in Salida.

It is with great sadness that I share about another death of one of the men who was experiencing homelessness. Wes Jamison, 63 years old, passed away early this morning at the red caboose where many of the brotherhood, as I call them, gather each day. Wes had only been in Salida for a couple months, so I did not know him well, but what I knew I appreciated. He had a great laugh and smile and made be laugh with his jokes and quirky humor. He was always asking me silly trivia questions to look up on the computer. At William Chapman's memorial service last Friday, Wes spoke and gave the best eulogy ever spoken. He said: "We homeless people are f***ing human beings. We have our problems, but we are not bad people. Most of us are f***ing good people and if you got to know us, you'd see that." True words. May Wes rest in peace, and may peace rest upon his friends, especially Raven, his "brother" of the road for 41 years.
