A. Lucille Morrill, 66, died June 23, 2009, at the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden surrounded by her family.

Born in Fairfield on May 3, 1943, she was the daughter of George Forrest Morrill and Georgia E. (Childes) Morrill, formerly of Rockport. Lucille attended schools in Rockport and is an alumnus of Rockport High School, Class of 1962. She faithfully attended Souls Harbor Church of God in Rockland.

Lucille was a lifetime caregiver and was a private duty nursing companion to many over the years. She recently worked with the Ask and Pals agencies. She was always attentive to the needs of others and was a visitor to sick and homebound individuals for many years. Lucille served as a home attendant and chef for many prominent local families for a number of years.

She enjoyed traveling, worldwide correspondence and collecting items of personal interest. Lucille also served as correspondence secretary of her local Red Hat Society.

Heartfelt thanks and gratitude is extended to the nurses and the entire staff at the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill for their loving, compassionate care and support toward Lucille and her family during her illness. The family also gave a special thanks to Dr. Karen Backman and her staff at the Penobscot Bay Medical Center Cancer Care Center, and Dr. Steele and Dr. Kumin.

Lucille will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her sister, Sandra B. (Morrill) Shaw and her husband, Richard, of Glen Cove; one aunt, Annie Childes Basford of Rockland; two maternal cousins, Priscilla (Basford) Harvey and her husband, Allen, of Rockland and Charles A.M. Childes of Citrus Springs, Fla.; one uncle, John H. Small of Warren; several paternal cousins in New Hampshire; her “best bud,” Ramona Benner; and countless very close friends.
