Bonnie Joyce Cooper
AUGUST 11, 1939 – FEBRUARY 22, 2020
Bonnie Joyce (Riley) Cooper, 80, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020
Bonnie was born August 11, 1939 in Amarillo to Jay Fred and Mildred Faye (Roberts) Riley. She attended Sanborn Elementary, Nixon Schools, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1957. She married James “Jim” Cooper on August 27, 1971 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Bonnie had numerous careers throughout her life before finally retiring as a Pharmacy Technician at Revco Pharmacy. She was a member of AE Shirley #986 Order of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of the PTA.
Bonnie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her family fiercely..especially her only grandson Michael. She also enjoyed playing Nintendo, drinking Sprite Zero, and watching her Dallas Cowboys. For her talent of crocheting, she was given the nickname “The Hat Lady” in tribute to the hundreds of hats, scarves, and afghans she crocheted and donated to local Amarillo ministries.
Most who knew Bonnie called her Nan..a nickname she loved.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband Jim, Parents Fred and Faye, brothers Jerry Tom and Jay; infant sister Joann, and grand-daughter Carie Burton. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Victor Brown and wife Sherilyn of Amarillo, daughter Kandy Caffee and husband David of Amarillo; grandchildren Amber Brown, Michael Caffee and wife Christin, and great grandchildren Bailee Buchanan, Keegan Burton, Damian Buchanan, Shaylah Burton, Quinlan Burton, Lindsey Caffee, and Jordan Caffee, her brother-in-law Rich Gassner of Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind her very special friend and honorary sister Nelda Silvers, as well as many other family and beloved friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the MS Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or your favorite charity. The family would like to thank Dr. John Richard Chandler and his staff for all of their years of care and support. A special gratitude is expressed to family friend Jeannie Wyble.
