He married (1) Ruth Peirce on Apr 24, 1833 at Miami County, Ohio and (2) Sarah Dixon on Septermber 12, 1868 in Columbiana, Ohio.
He was the father of Elmira, Eunice Ann, Samuel, Allen J., Harmon, Harvey, Martha C., Noah, Henry Coates, Layton, Clarkson and John Pemberton.
