Jill Cooper, 72, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2018, in Moreno Valley, California, after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. Jill resided in Moreno Valley where she worked for a local school district for approximately 27 years and retired in 2014. Jill was born on June 17, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to her parents, Ken and Nan Brantmeier. Jill started coming to the Island in the mid 1960s and would spend part of her summers on the Island and stay at Gibson’s West Harbor Resort.

Jill was a fixture in West Harbor, which was where she met her husband, Robert “Bobby” Cooper Jr. They would eventually marry in 1971 and would go on to have two boys, who she is also survived by: Robert “Trae” Cooper III and Chris Cooper.

Jill will be remembered for spending lazy summer days in West Harbor playing board games with all the neighbors and friends who would stop by, taking impromptu Sea-Doo rides with Norine Murphy, and gardening or handing out gardening tips to anyone who would listen. Most of all, Jill will be remembered for being a generous, supportive and loving friend, mother and wife who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at the Washington Island cemetery at 10 a.m. on August 18, 2018.
