Roger Dale Moore was born on September 10, 1938 to Miles and Meta (Beckman) Moore on their farm near Tunerville, SD. He attended country school (District 32) and graduated from Revillo High School in 1956. After earning his teaching certificate from Northern State Teachers College he taught school at Prairie Rose District 63, Britton, Brandt, and Estelline, SD.
Roger met Lois Ann Wiesner at a dance in Tunerville. They were engaged on Christmas Eve 1957 and united in marriage on April 19, 1958. To this union, three children were born.
He furthered his education at South Dakota State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Animal Science. The family then moved to Iowa where he bought hogs for Oscar Meyer. In 1968, Roger and Lois began farming and moved to the family farm where Lois was raised near Brandt, SD.
Roger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. He served on various committees including the church council and the ASCS board.
When he wasn't farming, he enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, dancing, and playing cards. He and Lois made many memories with friends and enjoyed traveling together. In his later years he'd venture to town to "shake dice for coffee" and trade stories with friends. He wouldn't shy away from a visit and if there was anything Roger was known for it was his quick wit and humorous nature.
Roger is survived by his children: Ron (Carol) Moore of Buffalo, MN, Al (Jane) Moore of Brandt, SD, and Angie (Chad) Bannwarth of Smithville, MO; ten grandchildren: Julie (Kirk) Ohlsen, Jill (Dillon Lambley) Moore, Sara (Travis) Tipler, Anthony (Allison) Moore, Charlie Moore, Annie (Fiancé Rob Thurston), Mira, Avery, Luke, and Lincoln Bannwarth; seven great grandchildren: Devon Moore, Sienna, Brooklyn and Sunny Ohlsen, Hayden Tipler, Mya and Wes Moore; sister Marla Johnson; sister-in-law Eunice Solem, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his parents, brother Fred, sister Loretta, brothers-in-law: Dick Solem, Lyle Johnson, and Ed Erickson.
