JOSEPH GLESSON SANDERS, 93, who lived with his daughter, Cynthia S. Mallette of Carroll Valley, and formerly of Emmitsburg, died
Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born April 29, 1910, in Fairfield, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Catherine (Beard) Sanders.
His wife, Robbie Helen (Stonesifer) Sanders, died Feb. 7, 1992.
Mr. Sanders was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg.
He was a life member of VFW Post 6658 and a member of Francis X. Elder American Legion Post 121, both of Emmitsburg.
Mr. Sanders is survived by two sons, Stephen M. Sanders of Chicago, Ill., and Jeffrey L. Sanders of Littlestown, one daughter, Cynthia S. Mallette of Carroll Valley; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Blasius Sanders, Leonard Sanders, Lando Sanders, Leo Glenn Sanders and Francis Sanders; and one sister, Charlotte Nary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, by the Rev.
Vincent O Malley. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fairfield.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Skiles Funeral Home, Emmitsburg, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p m.
