Death of Mrs. Garrett
Mrs. R.S. Garrett of Hastings, wife of R.S. Garret departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1908. If she had lived till next month, she would have been 40 years of age.
Mrs. Garrett had suffered from heart trouble many years and an attack of typhoid fever found her in a weakened condition and she succumbed to the disease, although the best medical attention was afforded her and friends and family catered to her every want.
She was a Christian woman of great fortitude and kind mother to her four children and a model wife to her husband, all of whom are bowed down in grief. Interment was had in the Hastings cemetery Thursday the 13th and a beautiful and touching sermon was delivered by Rev. J. E. Martin pastor of the M.E. Church at that place.
Mrs. Garrett came with her husband to this country when it was new and together with others pioneers underwent all the privations and hardships incident to the life of early settlers in any country. She was ready to die except she did not want to leave her family. The News extends condolences to the bereaved family.
