Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 27 Nov 1931
"Ellsworth - Nov. 25 – Fred Rose, 63, life resident of this place, accidentally shot himself Monday afternoon and died from loss of blood before a doctor could reach him. He had been hunting in the forenoon and came home for dinner. Finishing his meal he thought to continue the sport and entered his Ford coupe, drawing his loaded shot-gun in after him. A hammer of the gun caught on the side of the car and a shell was exploded, sending a heavy charge of shot into his thigh and side. His wife and a neighbor went to his assistance at the crack of the gun and carried him into his home, blood rushing from the wound that could not be stopped. Besides his widow he leaves several sons, brothers and other relatives. For a considerable time he was employed in state highway work and by C. H. Neff in Canfield. Funeral services will be held from the Ellsworth Presbyterian church Thursday [26th] morning at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. G. E. Brown officiating. Interment will be made in the village cemetery."
