Gary LeRoy Lucas, 83, of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital. Born in Mancelona on December 22, 1936, he was the son of James and Ruth (Moore) Lucas.
For many years, Gary lived in Mancelona before moving to Gaylord. He worked for DTE Energy (Michcon) until retiring in 1996. Gary and his wife, Helen enjoyed traveling all over the country by motorcycle and motor home. They enjoyed spending winters at their home in Sebring, FL.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Lou Lucas of Traverse City, Tony (Mary) Lucas of Lewiston, Gregory (Kandace) Lucas of Melbourne, FL, Steven (Elizabeth) Lucas of New Boston; step daughters, Debra (Darrell) Anders of Arley, AL, Kathy Smith of Mancelona; grandchildren, Trisha Facsko, Amy Nichols, Chelsea Lucas, Steven Lucas, James Lucas, Guy Clements, Helen Stingley and John Smith; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and his brother, Jimmy Dale Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; his brothers, Richard and Kendell Lucas; step-daughter, Judy Brzenzski and a grandson, Jason Clements.
A memorial gathering celebrating Garys life will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Compassus Hospice.
