Mr. Martin Rafter, one of our oldest citizens, died yesterday morning at his residence on North Third street. Mr. Rafter has been a resident in our midst for over thirty-three years, and had passed the seventy-fifth year of his age. For some months the deceased has been in feeble health and his death consequently does not take his friends by surprise. He was well and favorably known to a large circle of acquaintances, and has raised a family, among them James and Frank Rafter, residing at East St. Louis, Madame Stanislaus, of the Ursuline convent, Edward, Charles and Ellen still living at home. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning from the residence. From thence the body will be conveyed to St. Joseph's church, where requiem high mass will be celebrated.
