Sharon L. Howard (Kasey) Russell, 77, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Mt. Vernon Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 30, 1942 in Evansville to the late Robert and Teckla (Elpers) Kasey.

Sharon graduated from Memorial High School in 1960. She was a former active member of Nativity Catholic Church where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, usher and greeter, as well as visiting shut in’s and playing in their golf league. Sharon enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling and doing crossword puzzles. She loved traveling to see her children with her husband, Jim, but most importantly, she treasured the time that they spent with their grandchildren. Sharon has been a current member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Jim Russell; daughters, Kim Rentchler, Kristi (Chris) Walstra, and Kelly (Bill) Zullo; son, Mark (Stacie) Howard; grandchildren, Haley and Taylor Rentchler, Joe Howard, Holden Howard, Carson Howard, Ruby Zullo and Scarlett Zullo; step-children, Mike (Susan) Russell, Mark (Lisa) Russell and Michelle Russell; step-grandchildren, Jacob Lehman, Kyle Russell, and Lindsey Swartz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Howard; brothers, Robert Kasey, Gene Kasey, and Charlie Kasey; and her sister, Joyce Oglesby.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Prayer services will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road, with Father Martin Estrada officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Published in Courier Press from July 1, to July 2, 2020.
