He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Graves, Georgia. Gene was educated in the Terrell County Public School System and graduated with honors from George Washington Carver High School in 1965. After graduating high school, Gene’s first job was working with Southwest Community Board of Region as a landscaper for three years before beginning his career at Yale Rubber Manufacturing Company in 1968. After 29 years of employment with Yale, he worked at Oxford Construction Company until he retired in 2010.
On Sunday, May 13, 2018, Willie Gene Bridges, Jr. transitioned to his heavenly home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Kinnel, Carolyn Stephens and Peggy Ruth Williams and three nephews, LaNoris Kinnel, Darren Daniel & Tobious Jones.
