Joe was the son of Virginia Gertrude Dover McGriff and Claude Linley McGriff. He was the grandson of Geneva Bell Sechrist Dover and Joseph Dotson Dover, and of Elizabeth Ann Brewster McGriff and Morton Linley McGriff. He moved to Odessa in 1958. He was a supervisor for El Paso Natural Gas Co. until his retirement in 1982. He was a past 32nd degree Mason, lifetime member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. Survivors are daughter, Virginia McGriff Harris and his son, Claude Leonard McGriff.
