James Orville "J.O." Heath of McKinney, Texas passed away on June 28, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born on February 10, 1937 to Gilbert Beebe Heath and Juanita Fay (Smiley) Heath in Carthage, Texas.
He received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and a master's degree in music education from the University of North Texas. James married Linda Kay Gumm on June 20, 1964 in Justin, Texas. He worked as a teacher/band director for over 45 years at these high schools: Northwest High School, Grapevine High School, Joshua High School, Sanger High School and Faith Christian Academy in Grapevine, Texas.

James continued his love of music education by teaching his grandchildren after retirement. In addition, he was a Press Gate Supervisor for the Texas Rangers baseball team for 28 years. James and Linda attended Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen, Texas.

James is survived by his wife, Linda of McKinney, Texas; sons, Darek and wife, Nicole of Allen, Texas and Jeremy and wife, Alexandra of Sarasota, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Christian, Lauren, Madison and Jade; and his sister, Bebe Jean Powell and husband, Charles of Grandview, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Juanita Heath.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas and will also be live streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page.

Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service where all are invited to attend the committal service maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.
