Jo Ann Norton Moore, a long-time Morristown resident, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at Signature Lifestyles in Jefferson City. She was 84. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Moore, and great-grandson Davis Tucker.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and David Sandlin; grandson, Jonathan Robert Sandlin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Sandlin Sillay; and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Willa; son, Robert Moore and grandson, Aaron Moore; and daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Tim Horner; and grandchildren, Jessica Horner and Megan Horner.

She was born on February 13, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama to Joel and Gertrude Norton and had two sisters, Sue Bush and the late, Polly Rorie. After graduating from Ensley High School, she was married and remained married until her husband’s death in 1977. Thereafter, she was one of the first five employees hired at Mahle and worked there until her retirement.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Emma Jarnagin Cemetery in Morristown with Rev. Asa Majors and Rev. Darris Doyal officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Morristown or the University of Tennessee Medical Center Hospice Services. The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff at Signature Lifestyles; UT Hospice; and Holly Murphy’s Sitters.
