Mattie was the daughter of Joseph L. and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Whetstone Bennett. In 1900, Mary is widowed and living with her children in Navarro Co, TX. Mattie married Robert Lucas Little on 19 January 1909 in Anderson Co, TX. They are buried beside her parents.

OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Sunday, 24 November 1968:

Mrs. Mattie B. Lucas Little died Friday afternoon in Anderson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 86.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church at Elkhart with burial following in the Garden of Memories Cemetery there.

Pallbearers were Milo Pennington, C. R. Boyer, Edward Dancer, Clint Bars, Gardy (sic) Isbell, Bernie Dodd, Odie Killion and Delbert Bennett.

Mrs. Little was a member of the Baptist Church. She made her home on Route 1, Elkhart.
Survivors include a son, Joe Marshall Little of Palestine; a daughter, Mrs. Fannie Pennington of Grapeland; a brother, Boykin Bennett of Crockett; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Parker of Elkhart; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by the Bailey Funeral Home of Palestine.
