Vernon, age 88, passed away at Landmark Hospital in Joplin. He was the son of Frank Ora and Violet Clara (Davidson) Barnett. He graduated from what is now Labette County Community High School. He married Faye Murphy on June 17, 1950, in Altamont. He married Carolyn Ward on March 11, 2006. Survivors include his second wife, his son, Michael Barnett, his step-children, Jeff Ward, Paula Kastler, and Lori Wallis, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Ivan Barnett, Daqueta Shelley, Mona Harris, and Esther Johnson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, his daughter, Cheryl Huddleston, his granddaughter, Tami Faye Huddleston, and his brother, Alfred Nading. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment was in Lake Creek Cemetery.
