Emily Irena (Ferguson) Warnock, daughter of Joseph and Bridgett Ferguson, was born at Argyle, Wisconsin, on April 9, 1855. She went to visit her son, Ernest and family, at Omaha, Ne., and suffered a slight stroke. Then she suffered another stroke and fell injuring herself which hastened her death on Feb. 20, 1932. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ida County, Battle Creek, Iowa.
In 1869, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ferguson, with their family of 4 boys and 3 girls, migrated from Dubuque County, Iowa, crossing the state in a covered wagon. They located a farm in Maple Valley, Iowa, between where Ida Grove and Battle Creek are today. It was some 4 miles west of Ida Grove where they lived and reared their family to man and womanhood.
On Dec. 26, 1878, she was married to Samuel Warnock, a businessman of Battle Creek, where she made her home until the time of her death.
On Jan. 12, 1890, her husband died, leaving her with 2 small children, Anna Laura (Mrs. R. G. Penniston of Oakland, Iowa) and Ernest Samuel Warnock of Omaha, Ne.
For 10 years she made her home with her daughter during the winter months. When it turned warm, she returned to her home to be with family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her loss, the two children and three grandchildren, Thelma and Robert Penniston and Sammy Warnock; 4 brothers, George W. Ferguson of Los Angeles, Ca.; Benjamin of Sacramento, Ca.; Joseph of Post Falls, Idaho; and William of Des Moines. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Mrs. David Warnock and Mrs. Lucy Merritt.
