His degrees in physics were a BS from Idaho State U , and MS's from Idaho State U and from Syracuse U. He received a Ph.D. in mathematics from Syracuse U in 1969. He published 8 mathematical papers and supervised 2 Ph.D. students: Edwin Hewett and Harold Bowman in1972.
He played viola in the Tempe Symphony Orchestra for 27 years (Fall, 1981-Spring, 2009) and maintained a web site on the genealogy of some of the families from Monroe County, Kentucky and neighboring counties.
He was in the army's basic training and reserve (June, 1959-May 31, 1965)
