Richard "Dick" Emil Simon age 91, of Sturgis, SD passed away at the Ft. Meade Veterans Hospital on June 26, 2020. Richard was born April 4, 1929 to Emil and Louise (Weicker) Simon on the family farm west of Parade, SD. He grew up there with his three sisters, Ida, Lois, Molly, and his brother Earl "Bud" surrounded by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from both sides of his family.

In 1952, he married M.D.and together they raised their 5 children.

He took over the family farm in 1965 and farmed/ranched there until he retired and moved to the beautiful Black Hills. Richard built a home west of Hermosa and lived there for 20+ years before moving to Aspen Grove Assisted Living in Sturgis in 2016.

Richard is a United States Army veteran, a Master Mason member of the Eagle Butte Lodge 172, and a member of American Legion Post 303.

Throughout his life, Richard has made many friends, whom he loved and who loved him.

Richard is survived by his wife,children & 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Richard was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings.

A service at the Black Hills National Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
